A person who laced sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two children who were between nine and ten.
The defendant was arrested after eight children and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepson alerted the police about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant went on to play the "candy game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.
The prosecutor explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She explained the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
